What is LTV:CAC ratio and why does it matter?

LTV:CAC ratio compares customer lifetime value to customer acquisition cost. A ratio of 3:1 or higher is considered healthy - meaning customers generate 3x more revenue than it cost to acquire them. Below 1:1 means you're losing money on every customer acquired.

What data do I need to provide?

At minimum, you need: customer email (or ID), order date, and order revenue. Optionally include: order ID, acquisition source/channel, and CAC per channel. More data = better insights. We recommend at least 6 months of order history.

How is LTV calculated?

LTV is calculated by summing all revenue from a customer within a time window (30, 90, 180, or 365 days from first purchase). We track this by cohort (acquisition month) and channel to show which sources bring the most valuable customers.

What's a cohort analysis?

Cohort analysis groups customers by when they were acquired (e.g., January 2024 cohort) and tracks their behavior over time. This reveals trends - like whether your Q4 customers are more valuable than Q1 - and helps predict future performance.

How accurate are the LTV projections?

Projections are based on your historical cohort behavior patterns. With 6+ months of data, accuracy is typically within 15-20%. Newer cohorts have wider confidence intervals since we have less behavioral data.
