Agent Commerce

Agentic Fee

A take rate charged by an agent platform on a purchase it originates, distinct from and additional to payment processing. OpenAI's Instant Checkout charged merchants 4 percent per completed purchase on top of standard Stripe processing, with no extra cost to the shopper. OpenAI ended Instant Checkout in March 2026 and moved the capability toward its Apps model.

Why it matters

It is the number that decides whether an agent channel is viable on your margin. Roughly 7 percent all-in against a 40 percent gross margin is a different business than against 70 percent.

In practice

Model it as a channel cost alongside CAC, not as a processing line. And note the rate is not settled: the first version of this channel was withdrawn within six months of launch.
