Agent Commerce
Agentic Shopping
The consumer behavior pattern of asking AI agents for product recommendations instead of browsing search results, marketplaces, or social media. A user practicing agentic shopping says 'find me a lightweight laptop under $1,200 with all-day battery' to ChatGPT instead of searching Google or scrolling Amazon. This behavior is growing at 10x the rate of traditional search and produces no ad impressions, no click data, and no trackable UTM parameters. The purchase looks like direct traffic in analytics.
Why it matters
It removes the browsing step you have spent years optimising. There is no consideration set to influence with retargeting when the agent assembles the shortlist itself from structured data.
In practice
Stop treating the PDP as the conversion surface and start treating it as the data source. The buying decision may be made before a human ever loads it.
