Creative

Creative Genome

The practice of decomposing an ad into its constituent, taggable elements: hook type (question, statistic, visual shock), visual style (UGC, studio, lifestyle), copy angle (benefit, problem-solution, social proof), offer structure (discount, free shipping, bundle), and CTA format (shop now, learn more, limited time). Tagging a creative library this way turns 'this ad worked' into 'this hook type plus this offer structure worked', which is a testable hypothesis rather than an anecdote. The value depends entirely on library size: a few dozen ads cannot support element-level conclusions.

Why it matters

It turns a creative library into a dataset. Without element-level tags, the only lesson available from a winning ad is make more like that one.

In practice

Tag every asset on a fixed vocabulary before you need the analysis. Retrospective tagging across hundreds of ads is the reason most teams never do it.
