Dynamic Creative Optimization

Automated assembly of ad creatives from component parts (headlines, images, CTAs, body copy) by the ad platform's algorithm. Meta's Advantage+ Creative and Google's responsive ads are DCO systems. Useful for scaling variations without manual design work, but reduces creative control and makes it harder to learn what's actually working because the platform mixes components opaquely. Best for testing broad messaging directions before investing in full production of winning concepts.

Why it matters

It multiplies coverage without multiplying production, but it also makes attribution of a win harder, since no single asset is responsible.

In practice

Feed it genuinely different elements rather than variations of one idea. DCO combining five near-identical headlines has nothing to optimise.
