Data
First-Party Data
Data collected directly from your customers through owned touchpoints: purchase history, email engagement, site behavior, loyalty program activity, and customer service interactions. Increasingly the most valuable data asset as third-party cookies disappear, iOS tracking restrictions expand, and platform-provided data degrades. Brands with strong first-party data strategies (email collection, account creation, loyalty programs) have a structural advantage in targeting, personalization, and attribution accuracy.
Why it matters
It is the asset that appreciates as third-party signal degrades, and the only audience input no platform change can take away.
In practice
Collect it at the point of purchase and keep it structured. An email list with no purchase or category data is a list, not first-party data.
