What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO is the practice of measuring how leading AI assistants describe your brand when users ask shopping or research questions. The discipline is analogous to SEO for traditional search; the surface is LLM responses instead of result pages.

Why does AI visibility matter?

AI assistants are an additional discovery channel for buyers researching products. If your brand does not appear in the responses to category-relevant questions, you are not visible to buyers using that channel. This tool measures the visibility surface; it does not predict purchase volume on that channel.

How do AI assistants decide which brands to recommend?

Each platform's recommendations are influenced by training data (web content including reviews, articles, and discussions), recency signals (browsing/retrieval where supported), and how brand mentions are described in the trusted sources the model treats as authoritative. The exact ranking algorithm is platform-specific and not publicly documented.

How are visibility scores computed?

A signed-in scan runs up to 10 category-relevant shopping queries across four AI assistants. A scan without an account runs 3 queries against ChatGPT, and does not produce a score: three probes cannot support one. A second LLM pass parses each raw response to extract brand mentions and positions. Where a score is produced it is a weighted composite: share of voice (30%), mention rate (25%), position quality (25%), top-position rate (20%). All arithmetic; the LLM does not score. Are the recommendations forecasts?

No. Recommendations are action-oriented suggestions grounded in the parsed query data; impact estimates are intentionally not surfaced because no model can predict the outcome of a sourcing or content change in advance. Validate any change against your own re-scans.

What is AI Share of Voice?

AI Share of Voice measures the proportion of brand mentions across the analyzed query set that go to your brand vs the competitor set you provide. If 100 mentions are parsed across the queries and 15 of them name your brand, your AI Share of Voice on that query set is 15%.
