Agent Commerce

Agent Mention Rate

The frequency at which AI agents mention or recommend your brand when prompted with category-relevant queries. Measured by systematically probing AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI) with purchase-intent queries and tracking brand appearances. A brand with a 34% mention rate in 'best protein powder' queries appears in roughly 1 in 3 agent responses. Unlike ad impressions, agent mentions carry implicit endorsement: the AI is recommending you, not just showing your ad.

Why it matters

It is the closest thing to a ranking position in agent commerce. Unlike an impression, a mention is a recommendation, so the gap between mentioned and not mentioned is the gap between considered and invisible.

In practice

Pick ten category queries a buyer would actually type, run them across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity on a fixed schedule, and record whether your brand appears. Track the rate over time, not the individual answers, which vary run to run.
